Volunteer Your Time

Volunteer at ACCESS AIDS CareThe best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others,” - Gandhi

VOL-UN-TEER [vol-uhn-teer]: noun. An individual who works for a community or for the benefit of another primarily because they choose to do so and without motivation. Volunteers make a conscious choice to act for the greater good and fulfill their commitment to creating a better community. At ACCESS AIDS Care, we call them Super Heroes.

There are many ways to involved with ACCESS AIDS Care:

Administrative Office Staff:  Our administrative volunteer staff works diligently to man the front office and perform routine office support tasks as assigned. Duties include, phone services, basic clerical work, and office management.  We required complete professionalism, as this position will represent the first face, at ACCESS AIDS Care. Responsibilities also include greeting clients and donors upon arrival.  With this comes the expectation that our clients and staff member are treated courteously and with respect.

Give Back in Bingo: ACCESS AIDS would not be able to complete our mission without the hands of volunteers for our charity gaming Bingo Games, held Saturdays from 5-10 and Sundays from 10-4. Bingo duties would include selling “instants” (a small, tear-off lotto ticket) to Bingo players, handing out Bingo programs, verifying Bingo numbers for winners, and providing general support to the office staff at the Bingo hall.

Special Events: Fundraising is a key component at for ACCESS AIDS Care and the LGBT Center of Hampton Roads. Throughout the year, we partner up with other entities to fulfill that mission. Depending of type of event, duties can vary from set up/break down at a banquet hall, to registering guests at a grand gala.  Not only does your commitment help fulfill our mission,  this is an exciting way to experience some of Hampton Road’s favorite events first hand.

Meals Program: Our agency provides frozen meals to many of clients. Therefore, we rely on volunteers to drive to our clients and distribute the meals throughout the week. The meals are already prepared and packaged, ready to be received by our grateful clients! You must have a valid driver’s license.
