Condom Nation Big Tour

During the week of April 23rd, AIDS Healthcare Foundation and ACCESS AIDS Care toured Hampton Roads distributing free condoms and offering free HIV testing.  During the tour, over 55,000 condoms were distributed and 86 HIV tests were conducted.

ACCESS AIDS Care would like to thank AHF and our community partners for participating this outreach effort!

Nearly 7,500 Hampton Roads residents are living with HIV/AIDS. Another 1 in 5 are living with HIV and do not even know it yet. Nationwide, there are approximately 48,000 new HIV infections and 19 million new STD infections every year.

Unfortunately, few people have reliable and affordable access to condoms and testing. Recent studies show that when condoms are available and reasonably priced or at no cost, more people use them as a protective measure against STD’s, HIV and unwanted pregnancies.

“Once again, we are excited to partner with AIDS Healthcare Foundation for another innovative campaign. ACCESS AIDS Care has provided more than 2,000 free HIV tests last year to help people learn their HIV status. We appreciate our community partners that helped make this possible,” said Stacie Walls-Beegle, Executive Director of ACCESS AIDS Care and The LGBT Center.

“Condom Nation is a serious, yet somewhat whimsical and creative effort by AIDS Healthcare Foundation to help promote increased condom use and to help make condoms more accessible and affordable,” said Michael Weinstein, President of AIDS Healthcare Foundation.
